Recently a new member posted , and  I deleted the post. This is a copy of my explanation:
Quote
Welcome to the forum, however I deleted your post, it was to much  of just an advertisement, for commercial software, The interests here are more in open source software,..
At this point if you wish to continue as a member and post that will be ok, But there is enough advertiseing in the footers , and these advertisers have have paid SMF for free, to place their adds,...
I realize, perhaps I need to post some more clear guidlines, on this subject, and will.
Simpley, there is no problem if your signature includes a link, to yours or another site, where perhaps your product is advertised, But the post should not be a advertisement, it could be a article on web design , or other topics,.
If you have any questions I will be happy to try to explain more,...I am trying to keep this forum easy to post in and with a mininum of rules, and again you are still welcome, but  on the advertiseing, if it is repeated, or you are unwilling to cooperate, I would remove you as a member, on this note I suggest takeing more time on thinking about how you word anypost, if your signature includes a "advertiseing link" thank you from Garry
http://www.garryspages.webs.com
http://www.garryspaintings.webs.com
As soon as I have a chance, I will write a more clear "guidlines" and rules topic,..
I would hope that people can use better judgement on how they word their posts,..so as not to appear as a flat out advertisement,
Also if I don't mantain "strict"  control over this, this forum would quicly be filled with advertisements, and spam, SMF for free, has a service for advertiseing, that is how these forums are "paid" for, so anyone wishing to advertise should contact them, about how to place your adds, and pay for the service.
Any opensource (free) "software" is welcome ,to be announced and discussed,..
Also any non commercial  announcements, about community services, charitys, etc, will probabley be accepted, but after all said and done, I will delete anything I feel is inappropriate,...
 thank you for your cooperation,
from Garry

  Be CareFull!

"Free" hosting scams, etc,......There are lots of good free hosting services, but there are also some that are not so nice,...
So this topic is for any reviews, or discussions on any Free hosts, hosting plans that anyone may know of.
Anyone may add comments, good or bad, about any hosts they know of,...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
You all may notice above in the advertisements, this www.Answered-Questions.com , I apologize it is here, thats the price of "free" hosting,..and I am grateful for it,(SMF for free)I just checked out 2 of these, as I am looking for perhaps another host for my web site, but so far I have not found any better then,   http://www.webs.com

They have a real straight forward plan, some what limited, as a free host, but good,...and straight forward, no strings,...genuinely free,
SMF for free is also very straight forward,
See the links at the bottom of the screen. For SMF and SMF for free,...
or http://www.freesmfhosting.com/free-forum.php

Some of of these listed in the above adverstisements are not so "straightforward"
This one seems to be Ok, I just started with it, and have not actually set up the web page yet,...
----------------------------
Ok well, my new account got activated, and acutally it looks like they may be pretty good.
Free Web Hosting ($0.00)
1.5 GB disk space, 100 GB traffic, PHP, mySQL, FTP - absolutely free.
http://www.000webhost.com
---------------------------------
These are the Real, SMF links, and SMF it self is great ....

http://www.simplemachines.org
http://www.simplemachines.org/about/smf/copyright.php
SMF is opensource sofware, and for free, see the above links for more info,etc...
And I do reccomend SMF and support what they are doing for the internet community.
--------------------------------
THIS one in The Add
This one, dose not really even appear to be really related to SMF
 I do not reccomend, :
SMF Hosting
Web hosting for SMF: Free SMF installation, SMF Tutorial. Join now.
www_siteground_com
(the dashes are actually dots, but I did not want it to appear as a link)
They claim to offer free hosting/domains etc, but just to get started, you have to give them your credit card number,...they do not accept any other type of payment, and are not for free, since they are liars in the advertisement, I would not trust them, to give any credit card number,...How can one trust a liar ?
To me it appears to just be a scam to get your credit card number, again, I don't know this is a fact, but that is how it appears to me,,..I did not feel like wasteing anymore time looking at the links in the advertisements,...I am going to just stick with Webs.com, and SMF for free,...
from Garry

Edit: www.Answered-Questions.com
In it self this, (answered-questions) is not bad, it actually is kind of neat, just type in your question,  and see what comes up...
Edit: Again anyone that wants to add to this is welcome too.

If anyone has any suggestions, on the best ways to put videos, or  GIFS with sound ,into a web site, I sure could use some advice,..

Hi all,
Google Chrome here. When i click those links the "stuff" has to download before playing. The pictures work once sound is downloaded. Perhaps you should look into a natively smaller format for sound like midi?

OK, I think on needing to let it download, is a config, in google chrome, but am not sure, how to change that, I am also useing google chrome, What I am looking into
is a way to have a GIF run, and if the viewer desires, to also hear the sound, they can "click" SOUND and get the sound playing with the GIF.
Anything involveing videos, or starts getting "bulky" I have noticed this when people post you tube links, sometimes they are "choppy" and take a while to load.
In these I used artoonix, exported the file as swf,..the original file for the music, was a midi,... Personally, I like it best, useing qb64, a sprite sheet, and the _sndplay, ...then it also is easy ,with _delay, to adjust the image speeds, to fit the music.
There is a lot to learn on this,...anyway,...when I get "burned out" on codeing,..this is what I do, or in reverse,....
Artoonix can also save the file as a video, Windows media can run,..but this kind of file will not work on a web site...at least that I know of...
Thanks for looking at them
from Garry
These are the "videos" , but what is the best way to do this ?

P.S. What kind of set up do you use for drawing? Is it a pen and tablet set up? Just curious. I have always wanted some drawing set up to do things like you are working on. Just for fun anyways.
I use a pen and tablet, Acteck AP_8000, here in Mexico, that was all I found available, in one store,..
I also use a animation software called Artoonix, http://www.artoonix.com but I use another, called Pencil, http://www.les-stooges.org/pascal/pencil  to do most of my first drawings,...
I really like the pen and tablet, once you  get used to it, it is just like a pen or pencil and paper, except that you are looking at the screen instead of the paper,..thats what takes  a little getting used to,..as an artist, when I have been painting or sketching a landscape, that is what takes practice too, to keep your eye on the "view", mostly, and not the canvas or the paper.
Old Doslover said he had to download the stuff, useing google chrome, but I am also useing google chrome, and no downloading was necessary.
This is a important issue for public viewing, as in most cases people do not want to have to download anything,...if they can't view it, on the website, they wont bother,...

My main reason for posting this, is I would like to know if it plays well on other browsers, I use google chrome, and no problem, I had trouble with IE(internet explorer8), but that is a real "buggy" browser, and normally I don use it,.Fire Fox I have not tried yet,..if you have trouble, not getting the sound, or image, let me know, and what browser you use,..since apparently alot of these guys that create the browsers, are very "poor" at creating good browsers, they claim, it is necessary for the web designers, to accomadate, the html, css, etc code,...so it can run on their poorly written browsers. But all that is a different subject,...
Here is the animation:

I know this forum appears really dead, I am trying to think of what I can add to make it more interesting.
How ever, I need some help, I need people to give me some ideas, as to what they would like to see,..
Stories, jokes, anything you would like to share ?
Guess thats about it for now,...
